This is a glossary for common words in TV talks.
- Spoiler
- In TV talk, this is the art of ruining future events or plots of the show with an image, a text or a video.
- Cliffhanger or cliff-hanger
- This is an event or plot that doesn’t end in the same episode where it starts and makes you desperation to know what will happen or how will it end. Sometimes this happens in a season finale and we have to wait months to know the resolution of the cliffhanger.
- Promo
- This is simple. A promo is a TV spot that the TV network deploys to make expectation for the new episode. Sometimes, almost always, those are considered spoilerish because they reveal more than we want.
- Sneak peek
- As the word says, this are mostly stills from the upcoming episode. They may or may not be spoilerish.
- Spin-off
- This means a TV show that continues another TV show from a different point of view or centering in a different character or group.
- Hiatus
- As the word says, this is a period of time where the series stop airing new episodes. This is used by the TV networks to save episodes so the series last longer, or to match a very good episode with another one from a TV show in another network. This period may last as long as the network or the producers want it to last.
